Chivas whisky, the market innovator in Europe and Asia pacific

If there is a particular whisky that is recognized throughout Asia pacific as a premium scotch whisky therefore it should be the Chivas whisky. This premium whisky is released by the Chivas borthers which subsequently is bought by Pernod Ricard. Chivas whisky currently is the market leader in whiskies aged 12 years or more. Actually the sales are actually significantly growing coming from the year 2002 to 2011.

Chivas Regal Scotch whisky was basically first created in the year 1801 in Aberdeen, Scotland at the Strathisla Distillery in the Speyside region of Scotland.

There are mainly three main whiskies coming from this family and they are Chivas Regal 12 year old, Chivas Regal 18 year old and Chivas Regal 25 year old. The 12 year old blended with whisky provides a taste that reminds you about honey and ripe apples while on the palate it seems round and creamy. There are at the same time suggestions of hazelnut and butterscotch in the taste. The 18 year old blended whisky is matured for at least 18 years before it is bottled and tastes of orange and chocolates. On the smell it seems citrus, spices and fruits. Whereas on the palate you get spicy taste. Chivas Regal 25 year old is matured for 25 years or longer and tastes of apricot and peach.

There is longer history behind this excellent drink. It had been started by the Chivas brothers in the year 1801. They launched a store that sold spices, Caribbean rum, coffee, and various other food stuff to wealthy clientele. In the year 1842 just after the visit of Queen Victoria to Scotland they were questioned to offer goods to the royal family at Balmoral Castle. And in the year 1843 they were issued the coveted royal warrant to offer goods to the Queen.

As their good reputation expanded, clients often wealthy and affluent, would require them to provide smooth whisky. And so, in the year 1850 James Chivas initiated to combine whiskies to create smooth whisky that would meet his affluent consumers taste. He created a proprietary brand Chivas Brothers and released the first blended scotch whisky “Royal Glen Dee. This had been immediately pursued by yet another whisky the “Royal Strathythan”.

By the early 1900s the economy in the U.S was blossoming and to capture this market the Chivas brothers opted to develop an aged whisky and it was first given the name Chivas Regal. In the year 1909 Chivas Regal 25 year old had been launched and high quality brand and shortly captured the imagination of the Americans. They went on to take pleasure in terrific success till prohibition put a spoke in the wheel in 1920.

Seagrams bought the Chivas Regal brand in the year 1949 and put into use their tremendous marketing and sales network to further present this top quality whisky. When the prohibition was basically lifted and the Second World War ended Chivas introduced their 12 year old. Right now Chivas Regal had become highly popular and had a large loyal customer base. One of its pretty legendary buyers was the legendary Frank Sinatra.

The moment the 20th century was over they already had 18 year old and 25 year old added to their list. As a result of the split up of the Seagrams Group, Chivas was purchased by Pernod Ricard in the year 2000 and it continues to be with them to this day.

Chivas whisky has always performed perfectly and comes with received a couple of awards and medals at spirits competitions. On the San Francisco World spirit contest it won the gold medal in the year 2006 and 2008.
